Terms of Service

Last updated: November 3, 2026

A French translation of these Terms is available (use the Français link above). If the two versions differ, the English version prevails.

1. Who We Are and Accepting These Terms

TinyHeroes (tinyheroes.co) is operated by Edwin Bazerji (TinyHeroes), Quebec, Canada. By using the site or buying from us, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the service. You must be at least 18 (or the age of majority where you live) to buy, and you must be the parent or legal guardian of any child you create a story for.

2. What We Offer

  • Library stories are free to read online for personal use.
  • Personalized storybooks. You tell us about your child and their situation, and we use AI to write and illustrate a story where your child is the hero. A book has about 14 illustrated story pages.
  • Free preview. Before you pay you can see a preview: the cover and three story pages. You need to give your email to see it, because we send the preview there. We allow two free previews per email address; after that you can still order, paying first. The rest of the book unlocks when you pay.
  • Options and prices (in Canadian dollars): Digital PDF CA$19.99 (online reading and a printable PDF); Hardcover CA$49.99 (a printed hardcover, the printable PDF too, and free shipping to the countries we ship to). When we offer it, a second hardcover for a grandparent can be added to a hardcover order at the price shown at checkout. Prices can change, but the price shown at checkout when you pay is the price you pay. If sales taxes apply to your order, they are shown at checkout.

3. Your Responsibilities

  • Give us accurate information, and a working email address. We send your book link there. Check your spam folder if it does not arrive.
  • Only provide information and photos about a child you are the parent or legal guardian of, and only if you are entitled to share them with us.
  • Do not use the service for anything unlawful, harmful, hateful or sexual, or to create content about someone else's child without permission.
  • Do not try to get around our limits or bot checks, scrape or copy the service, put heavy automated load on it, or interfere with its security.
  • Do not abuse discounts, referral rewards or the refund process (for example by creating fake accounts or using other people's codes).

We may refuse or cancel an order, or suspend access, if we believe these rules are broken. If we cancel a paid order for that reason we will refund it, unless the rule broken was about fraud or abuse.

4. Safety Checks

We automatically check what parents write about their child's situation. If it suggests a child could be at risk of harm, we will not make a story. We will show you support resources instead, and a person at TinyHeroes will see what was written. This check is not perfect, is not a diagnosis, and is no substitute for professional help. If a child is in danger, contact your local emergency number or a qualified professional right away.

5. How Delivery Works (Digital Books)

  • It is not instant. After payment we create the full book. The PDF is usually ready within 1 hour, and sometimes later when we are busy or a check needs a retry. Any time on the site is an estimate, not a promise.
  • How books are checked. Every book goes through our automated quality checks. A digital book is then released to you automatically, unless Edwin holds it to fix something first, which can add time. If anything looks wrong, tell us (see section 7). Every page of a hardcover is checked by a person before it is printed.
  • When your book is ready we email you a link. You can also find it by signing in with the same email you used to order.
  • If your book has not arrived within a few hours, or the email did not come, write to edwin@tinyheroes.co and we will sort it out.

6. Printed Books (Hardcover)

  • After we approve the book it is sent to a printing partner. We usually use Lulu for addresses in the United States and Gelato for the other countries we ship to: Canada, the UK, Ireland, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium, Portugal, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Switzerland, Austria, Poland, Czechia, Australia, New Zealand and Japan. We cannot ship to other countries; checkout only offers the ones we can.
  • Once every page has been checked, your book is made in 5 to 7 business days. When it ships we email you tracking details, and the post usually takes another 5 to 10 business days depending on where you are. Shipping is free. These are estimates, and they can be longer in busy periods or because of customs or carrier delays.
  • You must give a correct, complete delivery address. We are not responsible for a book sent to an address you gave us in error. If a parcel is lost or arrives damaged, tell us at edwin@tinyheroes.co and we will work with the printer to replace it or refund you.
  • Customs duties and import taxes, if any, are the recipient's responsibility.
  • Grandma's copy. If you buy the second-copy add-on, we will email you after checkout to ask for the name and address to send it to. We cannot send it until you reply.
  • Each printed book is made for your child and cannot be resold, so there is no need to send it back. See section 7 if it is not right.

7. 30-Day Returns: Reprint or Refund

If your book is not right, tell us within 30 days of receiving it and we will reprint it (or remake a digital book) or refund you. Write to edwin@tinyheroes.co, or sign in, open the book, and use the "Something not quite right?" option, which offers, in order:

  • A free regeneration. Edwin reviews your feedback and rebuilds the pages that need fixing, and we aim to send the updated book within 24 hours.
  • A free regeneration plus a CA$10 credit toward a future TinyHeroes story. We will arrange the credit with you by email. It has no cash value.
  • A full refund. For a digital-only order the refund is processed automatically, goes back to your original payment method, and usually appears within 3 to 5 business days.

You can choose the refund instead of a remake. If your order includes a printed book (including Grandma's copy), a refund request is reviewed by a person, because the book may already be at the printer. We aim to reply within 24 hours. If a refund is approved before printing, the book will not be printed or shipped. If it has already been printed or shipped, we will decide fairly case by case. Feedback through the in-app flow can be sent once per book; after that, email edwin@tinyheroes.co and we will help. Please contact us before disputing a charge with your bank, so we can fix it faster.

Nothing in this section limits any rights you have under consumer protection law that cannot be waived.

8. Promo Codes and the Referral Program

  • Promo codes. WELCOME10 takes CA$10 off a new customer's first book and can be used once. SIBLING20 takes 20% off a book for another child in your family, PDF or hardcover, within 30 days of the email or thank-you page that gave it to you. Codes are only valid for the period stated where you got them, have no cash value, and cannot be combined with each other or with a referral discount.
  • Referral discount. After your first purchase you get a personal referral link. A friend who buys for the first time through your link gets CA$15 off.
  • Referral reward. When a friend you referred has paid at least CA$9 (after discounts) and 7 days have passed without that payment being refunded or disputed, you earn a free digital story. You can earn at most 5 rewards in any 12-month period. Your reward code is for your own email address, works once, and applies to a Digital PDF story.
  • Rules. You cannot refer yourself (different spellings of one email address count as the same person), and the friend must be a new customer. A reward is cancelled if the friend's payment is refunded or disputed. We may void any discount or reward we reasonably believe was obtained by misuse. We can change or end these programs at any time, but we will honor rewards already earned.

9. Ownership and Your Licence

  • What you give us (your child's details, your description, your photo) remains yours. You allow us to use it, and to pass it to the companies named in our Privacy Policy, only to make and deliver your book, support you, and run the service. We will not use your child's name, photo or story pages in our marketing without asking you first.
  • What you get. When you buy a book, we give you a personal, non-exclusive licence to view, download, print and share it with your family and friends for private, non-commercial use. You may not sell it, publish it, or use it commercially.
  • What stays ours. The TinyHeroes name and brand, the website and software, the library stories, and our characters and artwork remain the property of TinyHeroes, and you do not get any rights in them beyond the licence above. You may not use any of it to train AI models.
  • Stories and pictures are created with AI. We make no promise that they are unique: similar stories or pictures may be made for other families, and the law on copyright in AI-generated work is unsettled in many places.

10. Made With AI, and Not Therapy

Stories and illustrations are generated using artificial intelligence. We check them, but AI can occasionally make mistakes, such as an odd detail in a picture or a line that does not fit. That is what the guarantee in section 7 is for. TinyHeroes stories are for comfort, reassurance and conversation between you and your child. They are not therapy, counseling, medical or psychological advice, and they do not replace a qualified professional. If you are worried about your child's wellbeing, please talk to a doctor, therapist or school counselor.

11. Payments

Payments are processed by Stripe in Canadian dollars (CAD), and we never see your card number. If your card is in another currency, your bank may add conversion fees. You agree to pay the price shown at checkout.

12. Third-Party Services

The service relies on third parties such as payment, hosting, AI, email, printing and shipping companies. We are not responsible for their outages or mistakes, but we will do our best to put things right for you when they affect your order. If you buy through Etsy, Etsy's terms also apply to that purchase.

13. Availability and Changes to the Service

We work hard to keep the service running, but we do not promise it will always be available or error-free. We may change, pause or discontinue features, or temporarily stop making new books. If we stop a paid order you have already placed, we will refund it.

14. Our Responsibility to You

The service is provided "as is", to the extent the law allows. To the extent the law allows, TinyHeroes is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you for any claim about an order is limited to the amount you paid for that order. We are not liable for decisions made based on the content of a story.

This does not limit or exclude anything that cannot be limited or excluded by law, including liability for our intentional or gross fault or for bodily or moral injury, or any legal warranty or right you have as a consumer under Quebec's Consumer Protection Act or other mandatory law.

15. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Quebec and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Disputes are to be brought before the courts of Quebec, subject to any right you have by law to bring a claim where you live. We would like to hear from you first, so please write to edwin@tinyheroes.co and give us the chance to fix the problem.

16. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the new version here with an updated date, and we will email you or put a notice on the site if a change significantly affects your rights. Changes do not apply to orders you have already paid for. Using the service after a change takes effect means you accept the new Terms.

17. Contact
